Grantham University, an online university with administrative offices bases in Kansas City, Missouri, is one of the oldest, private, post-secondary, degree-granting distance education universities in the United States. Founded in 1951, it has been serving member of the Armed Forces of the United States of America, veterans, active guard, and their families, as well as public agency staff and students from around the world for 60 years now. Currently, the university offers 38 associate, baccalaureate and master degree programs, all of which are offered as online degree programs. The degree programs are managed by four different schools: the Mark Skousen School of Business, the College of Arts and Sciences, the College of Engineering and Computer Science and the School of Nursing and Allied Health. They also offer two Certificate of Learning courses in Criminal Justice and Medical Code and Billing. Examples of undergraduate degree programs offered in Grantham include Business Administration, Business Management, Criminal Justice, Computer Science, Engineering Management Technology, Health Systems Management, and Information Technology. The Master’s degree programs focus on fields of Healthcare (MHA), Business (MS and MBA), and Information Technology. The online programs are delivered through pedagogy, technology, and advanced instructional systems. This includes the use of asynchronous technologies such as e-mail, message boards, printed materials, and on-demand video.
With the online platform becoming more popular, Grantham University is seeing a pretty good number of enrollees with the current enrollment standing at almost 14,000 students, with 90% of that coming from a military background. Being an online university though, Grantham University has no athletic team to speak of.
Grantham University seeks to keep the cost of education down, which is why tuition for undergraduate courses is just at $265/credit hour. Tuition for graduate courses is not much higher at only $325/credit hour. Financial aid is extended to active duty military member, veterans, and Department of Defense employees through a discounted tuition rate of $250/credit hour. Note that this tuition rates do not include miscellaneous fees such as evaluation fees, technology fees ($30 per 8-week term), late payment fees, international shipping fees, and more.
