Fortis Institute, also known as Fortis College and Fortis College of Nursing, is a post-secondary network of colleges and institutes with 35 campuses scattered over 15 states, plus an online campus. It has a solid reputation for providing quality education, and in fact has been a Better Business Bureau (BBB) accredited business since 2007, with an A+ BBB Rating. Aside from being a Better Business Bureau accredited business, all of the colleges and institutes at Fortis are institutionally accredited by one of the following accrediting bodies:

The Fortis Institute offers career-based certificate, diploma and degree-granting programs at more than 40 schools, with programs in the fields of healthcare, nursing, medical, dental, business and professional services, information technology, beauty and wellness, and the skilled trades. Some of the programs you will find at Fortis include undergraduate nursing degree programs (with an accelerated Bachler’s degree program), Biotechnology, Surgical Technology, Dental Hygiene, Cosmetology, Massage Therapy, Barber Styling, HVAC, Welding, Microsoft Network Technology, and more. Many of Fortis’ campuses also offer continuing education courses such as State Tested Nursing Assistant (STNA), Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA), and Phlebotomy Certification. Other continuing education courses that are recognized by the American Heart Association training programs available at some Fortis campuses include Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or Pediatric Life Support (PALS). FORTIS also offers NAEMT training in Tactical Combat Casualty Care (TCCC), Advanced Medical Life Support (AMLS), and Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), and our Department of Transportation certifications include Flight Physiology, Advanced Airway Support, and 12 Lead EKG.

Fortis Online, the online campus of Fortis Institute, offers the following Associate of Applied Science degree programs: Customer Support Specialist, Web Development, Medical Billing and Coding, Criminal Justice/Homeland Security, Digital Graphic Design, and Medical Administrative Assistance. Associate of Applied Business degree programs are also available, including the following: Retail Management, Hospitality Management, Internet Marketing, Business Management (with option of specializing in Accounting or in Human Resource Management), and Paralegal Studies.

With a focused approach on career education, Fortis is not known for its athletic programs, with none of its campuses really ideal for those who are looking to use college as a stepping stone for a career in professional sports.
